Book Fairs

  • Combination of books and cash
  • Cash

What is the main purpose for doing a booth?
At book fairs, you are working to benefit the organization while utilizing the benefit of meeting more people in a short amount of time to increase other income producing avenues of your business. (i.e. recruits, parties, booth events, school contacts, other sales events, and loyal repeat customers). It is all about building relationships. You  build your business by obtaining leads for bookings and recruits and following through on these leads. Therefore, a book fair is a long term investment, not a means for quick sales.

I think I have a book fair coming up (hasn’t been decided yet) and I want to hear how successful school book fairs are set up. I’ve seen the massive number of books and the large shelving system that Scholastic uses and I don’t want to look like I do this out of my garage (even though I kinda do). How do I make this look professional? Also, do you generally have multiple copies of each book so people can buy their books and take them with them instead of ordering? If so, how many different titles do you take with you?
